Low-impurity activated carbon may be used in pretreatment and polishing stages serving semiconductor ultrapure-water systems. Media selection emphasizes leachables, TOC contribution, rinse-up behavior and compatibility with downstream RO, ion exchange and UV oxidation.
Discuss Your ProjectIndustry overview
Ultrapure water (UPW) is an essential raw material for semiconductor wafer manufacturing. Even trace organic pollutants, residual chlorine and chloramines can cause defects on wafer surfaces and damage precision filtration & reverse osmosis membranes. High-grade activated carbon acts as a key pretreatment media in UPW production lines, eliminating organic contaminants and oxidizing substances before water enters RO and ion-exchange polishing units.
Our low-ash, ultra-pure activated carbon is specially produced for semiconductor UPW projects, with extremely low heavy metal leaching and minimal particle shedding, suitable for strict cleanroom water preparation systems.
Raw water flows through the activated carbon filter bed. Residual chlorine is catalytically decomposed, while organic molecules are trapped by physical adsorption inside carbon pores. The treated water with lowered TOC and no free chlorine then enters RO and EDI polishing to reach ultrapure water specification required for semiconductor manufacturing.

Frequently asked questions
Need a faster review? Send the available process data with your inquiry.
Yes. Share your process data and target limits so we can prepare a relevant evaluation sample. Freight is normally paid by the buyer.
Iodine value, particle size, strength, moisture and packing can be discussed against the equipment and required outlet quality.
Please provide the stream composition, target contaminants, inlet and outlet limits, flow, temperature, humidity or pH, contact time and current equipment.
Service life depends on actual contaminant loading, competing compounds and operating conditions. Pilot testing and breakthrough monitoring provide the most reliable estimate.
