Activated Carbon for Medicine & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Pharmaceutical-grade activated carbon is a critical purification media widely adopted in drug manufacturing. With ultra-low heavy metal, low ash and precisely controlled pore structure, it safely removes colored impurities, endotoxins, pyrogens, residual catalysts and trace organic contaminants without damaging active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

Our powdered activated carbon (PAC) and granular activated carbon meet USP and EP pharmacopoeial requirements, suitable for GMP-compliant pharmaceutical workshops for liquid decolorization, process water purification and waste gas odor treatment.

Core Application Scenarios

  1. API & Pharmaceutical Intermediate Decolorization Remove chromatic impurities and reaction by-products in crude API and fermentation broth. Improve liquid clarity and product color specifications while preserving target drug yield, widely used for antibiotics, vitamins, steroids and biotech medicines.
  2. Depyrogenation & Endotoxin Removal Adsorb pyrogens and endotoxins in liquid medicine and injection water, reducing fever-causing contaminants to satisfy strict safety standards for injectable formulations.
  3. Pharmaceutical Grade Water Purification Polish Purified Water (PW) and Water for Injection (WFI) pretreatment systems. Eliminate residual chlorine, organic pollutants and odors, protect RO and ion exchange resin in pharmaceutical water loops.
  4. Solvent Purification & Recovery Purify recycled organic solvents used in synthesis processes. Remove degradation impurities and odor, lower raw material cost and support green, circular manufacturing.
  5. Pharma Exhaust & Odor Control Treat waste gas from synthesis, fermentation and drying workshops. Capture VOCs and unpleasant odors to maintain clean working environments and meet emission regulations.

Why Choose Our Pharmaceutical Grade Activated Carbon

  • Pharmacopoeia compliant: meets USP / EP standards, full COA batch documentation available
  • Acid-washed treatment, extremely low heavy metal and leachable impurities
  • Custom pore distribution for selective adsorption of color bodies and endotoxins
  • Multiple forms: fine powdered carbon for liquid slurry decolorization, granular carbon for water filters
  • Low ash content, minimal introduction of foreign impurities
  • Stable batch quality for long-term GMP pharmaceutical production

How It Works

In liquid-phase pharmaceutical processing, activated carbon is mixed into crude drug solution. Impurity molecules are captured inside carbon pores via physical adsorption. The carbon is then filtered out to leave clean, decolorized API liquid. For water and gas streams, granular carbon beds continuously adsorb contaminants during flow.
